Daily 66 - Three's even better :)

Three questions today in 3 levels of difficulty ( Sappa, Aiyo! and Vada Pochey!)

1) The Sappa one:

Concept by whom for what?

2) Now I'm making this tougher than required. Nonetheless if you peer through the existing clues all over it, its as good as done. Id the book, author and why I'm making such a big deal out of this.

**2.1) This was a really interesting piece of information I came across recently. Logical thinking would suffice for this with a bit of historical knowledge.
Question: There has, for some time, been an issue in Mr. Ban Ki Moon's country (not the Nuke crisis) about demands from various quarters to replace the "K" in the country's name with a "C" as they had before a long time ago. Why all this hullabaloo ?

3) The tough-nut-to-crack now. (Quite easily workable actually). The image "A" shows the remains of a monument built in a very famous ancient city, "B" being the graphical reconstruction of how it would have been during those days. Now the structure is the reason a widely used English phrase arose. Other modern day examples of similar structures are found in other cities shown below it. Id the monument, its purpose and the phrase that it gave birth to.

Daily 65 - Double Whopper

Two questions for the day:

a) If the gentleman on the left (1) holds a unique distinction, say "A" and the one on the right(2) holds another unique distinction "B" ; and if (2) is also capable of achieving the same feat "A" then identify all the unknowns. :) Hint -this is a current affairs question no doubt!

(1) *********************************(2)

Answer: The first picture is that of Vittorio Pozzo(and not Mourinho Sandy) who is the only national coach of a football team to win World Cup titles back to back(1934 and 1938). Marcello Lippi(pic. 2) on the other hand is the only coach in the world to have won a World Cup and the Champions League. Marcello Lippi is still touted as a favourite to reenact Pozzo's incredible feat this year. Answer cracked by Vinay and Anand. Well done.

b) While the creator drew inspiration for his character from the movie "X" he watched, Y and Z were the personalities from which the character's first and last names were framed. Who is the creator, and id X,Y and Z. Should be a fairly simple one. Y was a Scottish patriot and Z was a US Army general.

Answer: In a surprise turn of events, Vinay actually gets this wrong! Bob Kane, inspired by Douglas Fairbanks' movie " The Mark of Zorro" (X) created Batman. Bruce Wayne on the other hand takes his name from the Scot patriot Robert Bruce (Y) who is portrayed in Mel Gibson's Braveheart and Mad Anthony Wayne (Z). Well spotted by Sandheep and Anand.

Daily 64 - Dedicated to Ankan :)

The two pictures show a certain lady , the first as a child with her mother and the second an older version of herself. Id her and her father(who might just be the the giveaway here)

Wish I could give brownie points to Sandheep and Anand for their hilarious attempts but Vinay shows yet again who rules Google search. The woman is none other than Anita Bose Pfaff (surname reminds you of one of those sounds Obelix makes while bashing up Romans) , daughter of NSC Bose.
PS : Ankan, can't believe you missed this one to a mallu :P

Daily 63 - What a rut

Special question for the moment. What/who seems to be the unlikely connect?

A momentary tribute question. The answer is Lalit Kumar Modi, as of now the ex-chairman and commissioner of the IPL. He is on the board of Godfrey Phillips India, and was the channel distributor to ESPN and FTv in India through his family group Modi Entertainment Network. (MEN)

Daily 62 - Biz basics again!

Connect

Answer: The connect was 20th Century FOX pictures, which is owned by Newscorp ( the first logo) which in turn is owned by media tycoon Rupert Murdoch. My Name is Khan was distributed globally by 20th Century FOX. Vinay googles up the right answer yet again!

Daily 61 - All in all'u

Where in India would you be if you got a glimpse of all these ? (It's got a Guinness record attached to it FYI)

Golti power truly signified. KD, Sandheep and Vinay score rightly. Ramoji film city near Hyderabad.
